Lyrical Abstracts

The lyrical abstracts are a series of paintings and drawings in varying sizes from 16mm paintings on film leader to 36" x 48" paintings on canvas. In between sizes are 2.5" x 3.5" and also 11" x 14", both of which are on paper. Media includes ink, pencil, chalk and oil pastel, oil and acrylic paint and in a few instances enamel spray paint. A few contain collage. The basis for these works is polemical. I start out by introducing an element which causes conflict visually and I proceed to resolve it. This creates a history of conflic and resolution in the piece.
