I have lived with my family in Durham CT for forty years. We have always felt the Dairy Cows that graced both sides of Route 68 were an iconic symbol of our agricultural heritage.
The barns on the Greenbacker property have been a source of of inspiration for my work for at least a decade. I have painted them numerous times recording their gradual stages of gentle deterioration. But the cows have as much soul as the barns. It is my mission in these works to preserve their beauty and dignity for our upcoming generations as our dairy industry in Durham and Connecticut is vanishing so quickly
