Kristen,

Thank you for your praise and insightful observations of my work!  It is very satisfying to know that my art resonates with you.  Admittedly, I have been negligent on the social media front for some time. Due to your effusive comments I am prompted to post more images on Artists2Artists.

Curator’s Comments:

My affection for your work hasn’t diminished in the years since I first came across Ephemeral Embrace, back in 2013. Psychic Bloomings recent came up in a random selection in the site, and it seems particularly befitting our collective sense of bewilderment. While the mixed media monotype was created long before our multi-faceted national and global crisis, the figure takes on a universal sense of trepidation and awe.  Of perhaps I’m projecting onto the piece.  The brilliant colossal flowers could alternately represent a cosmic unity, or psychic connection to nature, as the title actually implies. As with your other figural self-portraits, the painting shifts the viewers’ gaze between the surreal and mundane.  Perhaps it is no more evident than in the axis mundi provided in this painting by the sharp division of space along the horizon. While I view the nudes in many of your works as expressing vulnerability, the rich color and defined ground in this composition anchor this body in space.  The pink and violet shadows in the figure further connect him to the floral array despite the spatial separation. It was wonderful to re-visit your images.  It is humorous, and poignant.  I hope you consider posting new work to the site in the coming year.
