Curator’s Comments:

While I don’t recognize the origin of the subject matter in this piece, the organic articulation of saturated color against the black background seems well suited to the digital media process.  It exhibits an arcing movement suggestive of a process of transformation or growth; a genetic specimen viewed under microscopic conditions. I like that the top band of composite shapes contains a full rainbow of warm and cool hues, which is countered by a larger version of cooler blue-green forms below. I’m reminded of photographs which reveal heat sources emanating from biological entities, or cells stained with bioluminescent dye.  The comparatively empty space in between the bands of shapes provides visual rest in the composition, and support for the arching trajectory of line. It’s interesting to me how the mind wants to fill in a gestalt of some interrupted forms in similarly numerically associated works. The piece identified simply as #26 reads as an isolated object on a darkened field.  I want to associate wings or legs in an abbreviated figurative mass- less so with the works that have a composite of multiple clusters of forms.  I’m also intrigued that you seem to have very different approaches to disparate bodies of work within the portfolio on the site.  I’m wondering if you’re seeing them as separate in process or intent as well.
