The rocks are subtle but over powering in the painting. The reeds gently rise through the water into the air. All the will your eyes travels there are things to find, such as the blue dragonfly gently perched on a reed, and the quiet turtle resting to breath, you find your mind is "Easily Distracted."

Curator’s Comments:

I enjoy the stretched vertical proportions and smooth textures in this featured painting.  Curiously titled Easily Distracted, I actually think the placement of the turtle at the bottom of the painting offers a strong anchor to the similar stacked rock formations.  The cool and low chroma color palette is also a meditative choice for the painting.  The delicate reeds nicely create surface variation and some diversion from the stone patterns, while their analogous green tones harmonious with the rock backdrop.  As this painting was posted many years ago, I do hope you consider posting new work to the site.  I appreciate the wide breath and variation of painterly approaches you have shared so far, and would like to see what you’re working on now.
