This beautifully fluid piece Skull flamenco…ole’ captured my attention and imagination today when it appeared in a random selection on the site. The varying areas of transparency and opacity within the organic configuration, coupled with the red, orange, and blackish hues prove to be deeply satisfying on a visceral level. The central section appears to “bloom” with a darker circular shape within a lighter field of the same hue. I also enjoy the manner in which the form touches three sides of the picture plane, and leaves open areas of visual rest. While I don’t see much sgriffito work, mentioned in the citation, when viewing the piece on my monitor, I do see contrasting articulations within the darkest areas of color wash.  Looking back through your other mixed media paintings on the site, I see that your artistic practice branches into more figural work that complements the more abstract pieces.  Whatever you’ve been working on in recent days, I would love to see more recent images on the site.  Please consider sharing them if you’re able.
