I’m attracted to the unusual color palette present in several of these recently posted paintings. I may have commented before on your dexterous vacillation between figuration and abstraction- the technical facility and color offers an engagement with the inherent ambiguity. This untitled piece is particularly engrossing. Perhaps because of the context with your other imagery, I scan for recognizable imagery within the forms to ground me. The pink slab shape on the bottom reads as a dimensional ledge supporting the other organic shapes, while the aqua blue biomorphic shape above it and to the left in the composition appears to be pulling away from the otherwise stable structure. The cooler and duller background blues and green recede within the space atmospherically, but the pale green tinted section on the bottom only hints at an unseen horizon. Just when I’m convinced of the presence of a human form, the image floats back into its realm of uncertainty.
