Curator’s Comments:

There’s something quite wonderful about seeing a significant mass of these individual sculptural works in a suspended visual field.  The lotus pieces hover in the open air, and amplify the sensation of lifting upward with their petals at slightly different angles.  There’s even a very slight ominousness in the expanse they occupy, perhaps evoking a flock of aerial predators.  The smaller detail pictures reveal an interesting dichotomy in their spatial containment and impression of visual weight.  I imagine they are physically light because of material, despite some pieces looking rather substantive in their construction. Images revealed in the undersides/insides are also suggestive of a larger and provocative multi-cultural dialogue.
