Curator's Comments:

I really like this new work, Mappleton (finished)you've recently posted.  The contrasting colors and high chroma palette invite the viewer into a beautifully abstracted landscape.  While it is somewhat disorientating to not be able to decipher a horizon line or sky, the densely packed picture plane is a pleasurable array of angles and lines.  I feel the small white sections do provide some  needed areas of visual rest, and the harmonious relationship between the same value of each hue also stops the work from being a discordant arrangement. The related painting, McMurray, shares several of these formal properties.  But the division between the organic top section and more architectural bottom half is a more predictable combination, despite the artistic stylization. These three pieces appear to be an extreme deviation from your digitally enhanced charcoal drawings.  However, one could imagine both are composites of multiple images combined into one. I would love to see more, of both bodies of work on the site.
