Sunset View bursts with busy, animated characters and high chroma color. The tilted perspective of the street scene pushes the totality of the crowded text and buildings onto the same plane as the viewer, resulting in a dizzying, and pleasurable read of the space.  The triangle of black sky- though star lit and interrupted by LAX- provides some relative visual rest, and strong contrast in the composition.  I also enjoy the beacons of light and palm trees breaking this hard declination of ground and sky, as unexpected visual elements. The slow and winding curve of the road further guides me through the space, and slows down the path so I appreciate all of the detail and juxtaposition of competing commerce. While my first impression was of a jovial and spirited cityscape, there is a grittier and slightly dark connotation of our choices of excess and diversion.
