Curator’s Comments:

Trip to the Mountains recently came up in a site search, and I was happy to view the work again.  These prints are beautifully subtle, engaging the eye with a fluid, watercolor like semi-transparency.   The division between the two halves of this particular piece by color and design creates an interesting dialog.  The more abstracted and lighter right side could be interpreted as a memory or thought of the figure on the left. I also enjoy the gold amorphous color that appears to be emanating from the head of the main figure, creating a mystical manifestation of cerebral activity. The very large scale indicated for a monoprint also causes me to question how the human presence would be deciphered and understood and when viewing the original art object.

Oh yes, I like this work. Subtle. I could stare at it for hours, better go and make some tea now.
