These two streetlight images are intriguing in their minimalist/maximalist compositional arrangements.  At first glance they appear similarly monochromatic and flat in textural manipulation, but enjoy a heightened sensory quality with closer viewing at the threads of light.  The streaks appear as hair-like projections as they gradually move in value from pale gold highlight to subtle violet shadow.  The organic patterns of the small overlapping lines in the first image also suggest water, and a gentle wave swell.  The second composition is obviously broken up into a diptych format by the streetlight itself; I like the asymmetry of the strong break.
