Curator’s Comments:

This beautiful image from 2012 resurfaced on the site today, and I’m pleased to take in the unexpected angles.  The photograph is surprisingly divided into roughly equal halves, but the slant of the wall on the left keeps the composition from functioning as a static diptych.  While the depth of field pushes the wall into our front field of vision, the blue shadow along its edge nicely ties it to the fluid water colors of the distant seascape. While this looks to exist in one space in time, there is also some degree of surreal abstraction in the extreme cropping, shifting the viewers’ attention between what looks to be rough grey concrete and a natural vista. I remember admiring your bold choices of color in related works.  Number 11 is arguably more subdued in palette, but just as striking in unusual visual juxtapositions. I do hope you continue to post new work on the site.
