Curator’s Comments:

I just came across this piece Parachute Jump with Fence, Brooklyn NY, today, and am of course attracted to the extreme perspective and graphic quality of the metal structures.  The ever so slightly relieved bilateral symmetry organizes the black diagonals cutting across the picture plane.  While the viewer is situated on the ground, the depth of field in the photograph keeps our attention on the height and apex of the tower.  While the subject matter is shared by other works in your portfolio on the site, I’m struck by the varying approaches to space and color.  The colorful Burlesque performers at first glance share nothing visually with the Parachute Jump pictures, but with longer viewing one may reflect on the compositional singularity of each image, and the slightly lower vantage point. This imparts a certain importance, if not awe on both the human and inanimate subjects.
