Stash is a humorous work, perhaps not as obviously outlandish as the chicken/human hybrids, but in simple proportion and scale.  The hair becomes a mass that has a life of its own.  The lithograph employs all of the gorgeous blacks possible in the medium, in a rather classically rendered image.  I feel it shares a graphic presence with the other full color portraits you have on the site, and as such the achromatic print may be a stripped down version of the later.  The other relief prints you’ve recently added show an incredible range in prowess in other print media, and in particular color registration.  I find it fascinating to recognize your versatility in not just disparate techniques, but in approaches to expression across a very wide range of subjects.  The three relief prints of the mills are perhaps the most objective and straight-forward renditions.  The warmth of the sepia color palette offers a faintly nostalgic view of the architectural structures.  Harper’s Mill and Big Ridge Mill appear especially reflective of time honored traditions and convention.  The relatively narrow range of values and hues provide richness and depth, and remove illusion to contemporary life.
