Curator’s Comments:
Beartooth Mountain Lake in an intriguing landscape, forming a unique gestalt from seemingly disparate parts. While the media isn’t indicated, the complementary but juxtaposed surface textures in land, water and sky appear to have been created by different approaches, if not physical materials. The brushy blue and grey pigment in the sky covers the area, while an even more opaque density is offered in the vibrant hued water. But the choppy linear marks in the foreground and more distant mountains carry distinctively different textures. I enjoy the small bursts of orange in the sky, which read as sunrise, but also hint at a supernatural event in light of the stylized forms. This sectioned abstraction is seen in many of your other landscapes, and is evident of a unique signature style.
