Curator’s Comments:
Fragments came up in a random search of mixed media works, and I was intrigued to read about the nontraditional materials used. The small piece is very painterly stylistically, and I would have assumed the textural inclusions such as the nails were illusionistically depicted rather than physically incorporated. The piece seems to be pulling apart from within- an interesting tension created from a work with landscape orientation. The broken color in the warm blue sky adds another layer of agitation in the space. While lines crossing the sky could allude to lightening or cable wire, they also formally echo the darker fissures in the black ground that seem to be closed with stapled sutures. It is arresting, and yet I imagine the small physical scale generates a sense of containment.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
