Curator’s Comments:

 

The simple intimacy of this untitled painting draws us in between the sheets. I appreciate the creative composition, and counter placement of the two embracing arms.  The blue coloration of the lovers heightens the awareness of their similar androgyny; they transcend race and gender.  Even the space between them is analogous in hue, blurring the lines where one ends and the other begins. The thin red lines edging the bedding, along with reddish trances in the background further help to guide the visual movement in the piece. The sweeping sensation amplifies the bodily sensual smoothness of all surfaces. I also enjoy the square format of the work.  It creates stability while cropping out any and all inessential space.
