This is an inspiriting body of work. The painting Death of a Plume Bird caught my attention today in a random search, and I’m enamored with the vacillation between pictorial and decorative space.  The pattern of tiny circular shapes read as beaded embellishment against the larger organic body of the bird.  The clusters and paths of similarly grouped circles direct the eye, and move us through the space, often coming up against the primary bird form.  While much more abstract, this relationship reminds me of Klimt; the viewer weaves in and out of the two visually pleasurable realms, enjoying the gestalt of form.  As for the palette, the saturated red and blue pigment pushes off of the smaller bits of yellow, striking a harmonious but contrasting color scheme. I imagine the work’s actual surface also reflects manipulation of pigment density, as it seems to carry both matte acrylic and wash or glaze.  I realize I commented on another one of your paintings- COD 2- several years ago.  It carries some of the same properties in a bolder array of non-objective shapes. I’m happy I traveled back to your portfolio today, as there’s a lot to take in and admire.
