Hi Kristen;
Thank you so much for your comments. You are lightening fast and hit the nail on the head with every observation:) This seems like a very lively network and I look forward to participating.

Curator’s Comments:

Welcome to the site! It’s a pleasure to view your work. I enjoy seeing your buoyant small marks adjacent to your more grounded rectilinear shapes; there’s a tectonic nature to these relationships. I see this piece (entitled Copper?) as especially architectural in its solid grounding of a large and dominant geometric structure, with smaller window like units above it. The gestural lines and black amorphous inky spots break up what would otherwise be a considerably more rigid spatial organization. The proportionally large field of negative space successfully spends visual weight in several other compositions. The paintings entitled Air and Pier both remind me of a bit of Miro’s surrealistically playful arrangements. The blue-green field of Pier is particularly lush, and nicely sets off the economic, approximately geometric shapes. I would not have thought of this piece as necessitating a diptych format, expect for the arcing white crescent shapes towards the top section. They form intriguing counter balances to the intuitive visual movement elsewhere in the picture.
