Curator’s Comments:

The rough, choppy gestures in the piece entitled In the Future wonderfully animate the space, and present the viewer with an anxious, if not hazy view of what’s to come. Coming up randomly on the site, it was interesting to contemplate your larger body of work that deals with more recognizable elements- especially noteworthy are the pieces with an architectural structures anchoring the intense visual movement.  The pale yellows and overall lighter value pattern of this painting provides a psychological openness.  The occasional punctuations of blackish squares and rectangles and a block of orange suggest figures or buildings and their reflections. I like that the piece shares the same painterly approach and mark making, but remains more ambiguous in subject matter.  Like the future, it’s only vaguely imagined.
