This has to be the first time I’ve ever pondered the words ‘crochet’ and ‘mathematic’ at the same time.  This piece is a curious play on seemingly disparate ideas.  I conceive of crochet in the world of intimate or informal hand crafted objects, or in the political ideological context of the Feminist Art Movement, when artists challenged the hierarchy of materials in fine art.  But on closer inspection of the piece, and consideration of the methods used, I come to understand crochet as a process that employs a system of regular intervals, so perhaps it isn’t so far from the realm of mathematics.  The sculpture itself is handsome and engaging.  While not exactly radial in its balance of visual weight, the curvilinear forms suggest tentacles, aquatic movement or oscillation of air particles. The focal centrifuge makes me conscious of the gravitational pull of the weight of the form, but I imagine this could be interpreted differently based on its actual physical scale. The reference to ‘Blossom’ in the title suggests a delicate entity, but I see it’s undulations as more in a state of flux or conversion.  I am happy to see several of your pieces presented in white on a dark black field. Far from the realm of traditional craft, they are evocative of the cosmos, logical systems, and elegant design.
