 hotography\".\nThe jazzy neon glow of a motel sign... the silver hush 
 of a moonlit landscape... the hollow loneliness of deserted city stree
 t lamps... the raucous revelry of a nightclub at midnight.... NIGHT ho
 lds a special place in the heart of photography. The geometry of light
  and shadow creates an interplay of mystery, possibility, and the fore
 boding that accompanies paths of the unknown.\nThis October, as Hallow
 een looms large on the horizon, 1650 invites you to visit THE DARK SID
 E: A Juried Exhibit of Night Photography. Photographic greats such as 
 Brassai, George Tice, Peter Hujar, Weegee and Robert Brook are just a 
 few examples of those who have contributed great works in the genre of
  night photography. This month, at 1650, it is your turn.\nApproximate
 ly fifty works will be chosen from submitted photographs to be include
 d in the THE DARK SIDE exhibition at 1650 Gallery in the Echo Park nei
 ghborhood of Los Angeles. Additional works may also be selected for an
  online gallery exhibition page.  JUROR - Andrew Overtoom  SUBMISSION 
 INSTRUCTIONS - Apply-on-Line Please submit your work according to the
  following guidelines:\nWe accept digital files through our online sub
 mission form. Your submission images should be smaller than than 1 MB 
 each. A good rule of thumb is to set the image resolution to 72 ppi an
 d keep the long side of the image under 1024 pixels. Files should be t
 itled as follows: YourImageTitle_by_firstName_lastName.jpg\nIf you hav
 e any questions about submitting digital files, please contact us at 1
 650gallery@gmail.com.  SUBMISSION FEE $30 for the first 5 images, $5 f
 or each additional image. Credit card or PayPal payments can be made u
 sing the PayPal link provided following online image submission. Submi
 ssions are non-refundable. Applicants must be 18 or over. We accept in
 ternational artwork.  ACCEPTANCE NOTIFICATION Photographers will be no
 tified of accepted work via e-mail approximately one week after the de
 adline. If selected, artists will be sent instructions for submitting 
 work for exhibition.  MATTING We offer free matting and framing for ac
 cepted photographs that fit our pre-cut mat sizes for the duration of 
 the exhibition. We have a variety of frames and mats to choose from.\n
 We will also print your photo for a nominal fee if you are accepted in
 to the show and would prefer not to mail a print.  SALES Selected arti
 sts may choose to offer their work for sale. The gallery retains 50% o
 f the sale price. There is a 9.25% California sales tax.\nPhotographs 
 have the opportunity to be part of an online silent charity auction to
  benefit worthy causes. 1650 encourages all accepted artists to partic
 ipate but it is not mandatory.  USE RIGHTS Artists whose submissions a
