DESCRIPTION:International Deadline: January 18, 2015 - Worldwide call 
 seeks ideas from Engineers, Architects, Designers, Sculptors, Builders
 , Agriculturists, Videographers, Technologists, Artists and Makers of 
 all kinds.\nBeam Camp, the summer camp for the fine and manual arts, t
 echnology and collaboration, today opens its annual international sear
 ch to find its 2014 Beam Projects. The large-scale collaborative proje
 cts are realized by Beam campers, aged 10-17, and staff at the camp's 
 106-acre facility in Strafford, New Hampshire.\nProjects are budgeted 
 at $12,500. Winning designers receive a $3,000 honorarium and are invi
 ted to visit camp during the project's production.\nProposals can be s
 ubmitted on the Beam Camp website until January 18, 2015 with Semi-fin
 alists announced on Monday, January 26, 2015.\nBeam offers these promp
 ts for proposals:\n\nBig ideas that result in a unique, ambitious, and
  spectacular product\nProjects that are ambitious enough to occupy and
  challenge 108 campers and 20+ staff members\nProjects that take advan
 tage of our camp’s landscape and rural setting\nProposals that commu
 nicate a clear vision (sketches, diagrams, and other visuals are alway
 s helpful) and represent your/your team’s expertise\n\nBeam Camp Co-
 Director Danny Kahn says of the Project, \"it's a chance for kids to w
 alk around inside the mind of a designer of big things and systems. Th
 e kids get to learn project-specific making skills and practice the to
 ols of collaboration, and more importantly see how to bring to life a 
 passionately held and expertly developed idea.\"\nThe 2014 Beam Projec
 ts reflected Beam’s core emphasis on cultivating creative thinking a
 nd applied collaborative work. “Forest Phantasmagoria,” Beam Proje
 ct 2014.1, is 30’ kaleidoscope designed by sculptors Niko Van Stiche
 l and Lut Vandebos. “Creatura,” Beam Project 2014.2, designed by M
 ark Torrens and Federico Forestiero, is a person-powered water vehicle
  with three means of propulsion including a human hamster wheel.\nPrev

 The Stories of Machines That Never Flew,” “The Habitats of Parker 
 Mountain” by pragmatopia and architecture students of the University
  of Kassel, Germany, “Creature Quake” huge monsters built into the
  landscape be Rachel Kunreuther and Doug Stokey and “Navigating Drea
 ms,” a timber-frame boat-machine by Matthew Springett Associates.\nA
 BOUT BEAM CAMPBeam Camp offers two 4 week summer sessions for kids age
