SUMMARY:An International Call for Entries Exploring Conflict
DESCRIPTION:International Deadline: December 8, 2014 - Highly regarded
Manifest Creative Research Gallery announces \"SCHISM\", an internati
onal call for entries exploring conflict. SCHISM is open to everyone,
the only limitation beyond the general theme is that entries must repr
esent original works which qualify in some considerable way as explori
ng the theme of CONFLICT.\nOne might say life itself is a product of c
onflict. History is riven by it, as is our present-day society. Specie
s vie, nations war, couples fight, ideologies clash—the list goes on
. As a force of existence conflict is neutral, but as a force of human
ity this is rarely the case. Results of conflict vary, from the horren
dous to the miraculous, from destruction to creation. Nevertheless it
is an integral part of any evolutionary process and therefore progress
.HOW TO INTERPRET THIS EXHIBIT THEMEArtists are encouraged to take a b
roadly creative view of the theme. Our multi-member juries enjoy surpr
ise, creative solutions, and most of all exceptionally well put togeth
er visual art. Works submitted may represent the theme by formal, lite
ral, or any other means, including by virtue of processes used to crea
te the work.SUMMARYSCHISM is a competitive international exhibition of
works exploring the theme of CONFLICT. Works selected will represent
some point of view, process, image, or idea about this theme.\nThis ex
hibit has no predefined expectation for type or style of work to be co
nsidered or selected. Submissions can range from the most traditional
to the most conceptual, abstract, or experimental. The only criteria b
eyond excellent quality (image/presentation) is that works must qualif
y as being clearly related to or about theme of conflict.ELIGIBILITYSC
HISM is open to everyone. The only limitation beyond the general theme
is that entries must represent original works which qualify in some c
onsiderable way as exploring the theme of CONFLICT.MEDIAOpen to any an
d all traditional and non-traditional visual arts media, or similar ma
terials (both two and three-dimensional).JURY & CURATORManifest's sele
ction process involves a complex two-part system. This exhibit will be
juried by an anonymous several-member panel of professional and acade
mic advisors with a broad range of expertise relative to art and desig
n.PUBLICATIONManifest Press will produce a high quality hard-cover pub
lication documenting this exhibition, artists, and works shown, along
the other new season exhibitions. This continues Manifest's commitment
to documentation and dissemination of our projects, and the expansion
of physical exhibits into a broader geography and timeframe.ENTRYVisi
