SUMMARY:6th Annual N U D E' International
DESCRIPTION:International Deadline: June 27, 2014 - Highly regarded Ma
nifest Creative Research Gallery announces the '6th Nude\", an interna
tional competitive exhibit exploring the uncovered human form in curre
nt art. Open to all artists. Professionals as well as students are enc
ouraged to enter. The only limitation is that entries must represent o
riginal works of art.\nOpen to any and all traditional and non-traditi
onal genre (abstract, conceptual, highly realistic, etc.), and media,
including photography, mixed media, video, etc. All works must in some
way involve, represent, or explore the nude human form.\nABOUT Manife
st exhibits many kinds of works, from more conceptual and experimental
art to the traditional. In fact we think it's important to have such
a range in our repertoire. It is something that Manifest is known for.
Our annual projects allow us the chance to track how artists around t
he world address a consistent theme, subject, or media over time, or a
llow us to document the state of art in a particular strata of profess
ional creative activity, and to study and preserve our findings in a m
eaningful way through our exhibit catalogs and website.\nNUDE is one s
uch project. The human body is a popular subject for many reasons, the
most obvious being that it is us. Throughout history the representati
on of the human form has been charged with tremendous energy, both pos
itive and negative. Whether it be a religious edict that one 'shalt no
t' depict the human form, a taboo, or the glorious opposite, a revelat
ion of mastery over form in the crafting of sensuous and life-like phy
sical human beauty, the art of the body has nevertheless moved us thro
ugh time.\nThrough all the permutations art has experienced across his
tory, work of the body persists. We use the human nude to master skill
, understand ourselves, and push social and psychological buttons for
the sake of expression (sensual, delicate, aggressive, and so on). We
intend for Manifest's ongoing annual NUDE project to explore how our c
ollective body is used today in art to achieve these goals and more.
JURY & CURATOR Manifest's selection process involves a complex two-par
t system. This exhibit will be juried by an anonymous 5-9 member panel
of professional and academic advisers with a broad range of expertise
. The jury will then pass along their recommendations to the exhibit c
urator who will make the final selections from the jury-approved pool.
PUBLICATION Manifest Press will produce a high quality hard-cover pu
blication documenting this exhibition, artists, and works shown, along
the other new season exhibitions. ENTRY FEE Each work submitted must
be accompanied by a $12 non-refundable entry fee. Number of entries i
s not limited. ENTRY Visit Manifest Gallery for complete info, projec
t calendar, and to enter online. INSURANCE Works will be insured whil
e on gallery premises. SALE OF ARTWORK All work, unless indicated as
