Latley I have been noticing a lot of artist using charcole not just as a sketch to paint over but as an intergal part of the painting itself.  I would love to hear any thoughts or experiences you may have with this!

Charcoal is a great medium in itself. I have used it by itself or layered (there is that idea again) with other mediums like casein, watercolor or pastels. It can make a very dense ground if you brush over it with turpenoid or alcohol. I will see if I can find anything that I have used charcoal in recently and post it. I have seen encaustic medium used over charcoal with some interesting effects.
What do you mean by wall art? I paint murals for a living. Are you talking about directly on walls or what?
