Nacimiento Venus (Hoy) / Birth of venus (today) SERIES ©BeatrizGlezSa - Mythology is a recurring theme in the history of art, perhaps because part of the same basis of expression through metaphor, this rhetorical figure of thought explains human knowledge and experience from a complexity that can not be abstracted or taken literally, and that Through artistic tradition it transmits cultural and anthropological knowledge, therefore, this discovery of the humanity, and especially, of my European culture, has meant one of the major bases of my thought and of my expressive evolution, and in my artistic work the European mythology builds a new dialogue by reviewing our cultural bases and our collective and individual identity.
Venus/Aphrodite as goddess of love and later linked to eroticism by some authors, evidently also linked with the image of femininity, the idea of external beauty and substantial importance within the idea of womanhood, that has permeated the collective unconscious with the specific concepts of beauty, love-eroticism and femininity, mainly to a Western culture.
Birth of Venus, used prolifically in the European Renaissance there is an increase in the use of myth in a re-construction of the many realities and interpretations that this myth contributes.
Venus is a complex mythological character, worshiped and vilified equally, with characteristics attributed by the subjective interpretations of the moment, while Venus becomes a protective symbol materialized in temples, such as the one that Caesar erected under the invocation of the mother goddess.
