Curator’s Comments:

The extreme scale of your relief prints was revealed in this random selection of images posted back in 2012.  While I remembered commenting on one of the pieces in your circular print series and noting the dimensions, seeing the pieces laid out together gives new resonance to the forms. The pulsating color in Genesis 4th Day evokes the radial symmetry of a human iris with a central camera aperture.  The central spokes suggest both a mechanical shutter, or a floral entity; both offering movement in the center oculus. The edges of this work remind the viewer that it was created through a registration process. The subtle shift of layered colors suggests the harmonized relationship of erratic or chaotic natural forces.  I find it intriguing that the abstract circular designs are anchored with a tangible, representational element, such as a flower, egg yolk or the sun. It is a wonderful metaphor for reaching the cosmic through the profane.

Installation at an Office building close to a major crossing downtown and visible from outside.
