Curator’s Comments:

This fantastically surreal figure caught my attention today.  The main subject’s symmetrical stance is visually relieved by the incongruity of objects projecting from her body. These organic appendages in her dream-like state appear to be additional, decorated female figures. What I find particularly interesting is the neutral expression of the main figure, as she sprouts these smaller beings.  The color palette in the piece is also interesting, as the warm fluctuations within the foreground are met with similar transitions in a slightly cooler, yellow- green ground.  While relatively high chroma, I can see in your larger portfolio on the site that this lighter tinted palette is actually more subdued than most of your other paintings! While the color schemes can be bold and riotous in some works, many seem to share a similar warm-cool blend that effectively neutralizes some of the contrast. I realize this piece was posted several years ago, having come up today in a random viewing.  I would like to see more of your recent work, and if you’ve continued in this aesthetic vein.
