Curator’s Comments:

Thank you for inviting me to comment on your new piece, 2 OZ. I quite enjoy seeing the evolution of structural changes in your sculptural practice, and the variance in which you return to primary or tinted colors. 2 OZ  has a vaguely industrial quality despite its pastel palette.  I see it as less aerodynamic with reduced emphasis on precariously anchored forms suggesting mechanical flight or tension. I wonder if my observation is based on the more aerial presentation of the sculpture, and possible scale you noted, or if that’s intrinsically due to the  horizontal prominence.  There is an interesting equality rendered in the arrangement of multiple bases; they form an even,  circular movement within the broader rectangular platform. The small black cylindrical form, placed in opposition to each other, are reminiscent of spools.  Other structures seem poised for reciprocal interaction if not animation, such as the cannon-like yellow tube jutting out towards the swinging pendulum within the blue arch. I’ve been thinking for a while that your recent pieces strike me as optimistic in their pastel hues, and supposition that everything, somehow, works together.
