Curator’s Comments:

The manipulation of the voluminous form of this roof creates what feels like a living, breathing entity.  I enjoy the bilateral symmetry of the composition, and the way in which the oculus hovers directly over the patch of banded greenery below.  The gold and pinkish hues are skin-like as they stretch into space overhead and arc as they touch the ground- seeming to point down on tenuous legs or ribs.  The mood is airy and light, and yet intensely focused.  The image of the Eiffel Tower similarly heightens the contrast and drama of the radial design of the architecture to display a pulsating motif.  The extreme black and white space in each quadrant of the work expertly balances the weight of the center, and directs the viewer to the tension within the structure.
