... my, oh my... all eight paintings are quite stunning! Even if these paintings were not emotive, the application and affinity to color is enough to make them quite moving... my favorite is "End and the Beginning"

Curator’s Comment:

I concur with the other commnets- passionate and scrumptious! The sweeping red brush strokes at the bottom of this painting provide a salient contrast to the top scumbled surface.  Looking eroded and worn, the chalky white section reveals small scars and thinly etched lines.  I see a fervent love of pigment and process here, especially accounting for the rather substantial/human scale.  By the title A Moment Begins with Nothing, I perceive the content to be existential existence rather than landscape, but the horizontal axis does give some reference to earth and sky.  I also readily respond to Emergence from Emptiness which seems to be the inverse of the spatial relationship of the former piece, with the contrasting swath of dark blue pushing into the top section of the canvas.  While the surface appears similarly visceral and articulated, I see organic erosive process rather than the artist’s hand.  It’s as if these works just naturally came to be, rather than painted.

Passionate color, passionate application, passionate surface. Congratulations!

your work in general is scrumptious.  i found myself squinting to try and see through the dreamlike, rich textures.  the blood red is very evocative in each piece.  it does feel like the "dawn of consciousness", seeing the vague outline of form through an ever shifting fog of color.
