Experimentation is the mother of invention, or so the saying goes. Most of my work evolves from an insatiable appetite to challenge myself to create something new and different. I'm ruled and driven by instinct, which pushes me to experiment. For those who know my work, it's usually mercurial, conceptual, or dystopian. The Sea of Dreams series came to life through Procreate, and I tried the Apple pencil for the first time.
Sitting in my studio working away on a typical cold and grey New England day, I started thinking about Spring, flowers, and the fantasy of going someplace far away. Just like that, I began painting flowers and Dragonflies. Soon a theme emerged of a magical aquamarine and amber scene. I started my creative career as an abstract expressionist painter during my twenties. Then changed my major in college to film and photography. I painted on weekends with watercolors during my working career making Videos and TV commercials in New York. Digital painting is very similar to watercolors.
