Curator Comment:

This series of diptychs are really gems.  The (actualized- potential) Fuel-Fire piece seems the most allegorical in juxtaposition of text, and the radiating line and color imbue a magical property to the ordinary objects.  The centralized placement insists we consider each element in the diptych separately- pulling us back and forth between text and image.  The fuel-fire equation is further reminiscent of scientific illustration- also evidenced in the magna-mantle reference in another piece. The craft and skill in rendering the objects gives way to the possibilities in their side by side reference to forces of nature.  The viewer is asked to consider these relationships at their most primal level, but there is an unpinning of content leveraging sustainability, and destruction.
