Curator’s Comment:

The swift white movement in the piece entitled an arboreal hypothesis belies the use of traditional oil media and suggests the visual static of a digital projection or film.  In this way the piece is reminiscent for me of Hans Richter, in its ethereal and painterly presence.  Viewing the piece in the context of your more representational imagery, one can’t help but contemplate if this is an evolutionary experimentation with modes or degrees of pictorial depiction.  Perhaps more imagery was once revealed- or will be?  Formally, the smoothness of the streaks and colors resonate against intervals of blacker pigment.  They suggest a passage of time in their horizontal travel across the picture plane.  Small pigment flecks and dissolving shapes come into focus in some of the picture’s corners.  Corporeal mass seems to dissolves into light. Perhaps they’re the ghosts in the machine.
