Dancing With Trees

Statement:
“We are all touched at some point by the beauty of trees, their significance to us, and to the health of our home, the Earth. Creativity is the excellence that humanity has to offer. We have come full circle in the sense that it plays a vital role in our present responsibilities toward our future, and possibly the existence of the living planet itself.
...our carbon footprint is worthy..."

A range of artistic expressions emphasize the character of this show, with the subject of trees as the binding influence. Paintings in acrylics, photography, an oil pastels series, watercolors, and mixed media pieces are inspired by travels throughout the United States and Canada, to Mexico, Costa Rica, Australia, and Singapore.
The Dancing With Trees Solo Art Exhibition celebrates the importance of trees and forests throughout history, portraying their diversity and relationships with all life forms through a variety of creative associations.
All life forms on this planet proliferated, continue to flourish, and ultimately depend on the existence of trees. While the message is urgent, I consider humanity's role on the planet as positive, with the statement that creativity is our greatest asset, and stressing that “Our carbon footprint is worthy”. Further, creative thinking is our most primal, yet highly advanced and ever-evolving contribution toward solutions to healing wrongs done, and changing ingrained habits to ones that are more appreciative of the environment in general.
For a comprehensive view of the scope of this exhibition, an accompanying website functions as the foundation where all related concepts are organized. There, photography is compiled into sets, and the art is available to purchase online.
The "Dancing With Trees" exhibition, formerly named "The Majesty of Trees" opened at the Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh, North Carolina in June, 2009. A year later, May 1st through June 30th, 2010, 23 paintings were on exhibit in the Steinhauer Trust Gallery at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Arboretum.

Personal account
My approach toward art emphasizes value in the work process, where means to expression are diverse. Styles reflect intuitive responses to subjects, emotional memories, media, format, and more subjective factors.
Faced with the task of completely restarting my business and career in Texas after moving from Canada in 2002, until I received my Green Card there was freedom to experiment commitment-free.
At the same time, with so many opportunities open, I sought new directions for my career, namely, to exhibit artwork in galleries. With a background in freelance, pretty much specializing in not specializing, I felt at a slight disadvantage. To turn the situation around to my favor, the Dancing With Trees exhibition was the best compromise I could come up with for galleries' expectations of consistency. This strategy works well with my capabilities, and also with gaps of time unable to work, due to traveling, when photography becomes the most convenient art form. I recently moved from Texas to the Pacific Northwest. The move finds me once again reestablishing work routine and career. There are so many beautiful trees and places to explore here; certainly no lack of inspirational subject matter for art toward the Dancing With Trees exhibition.
