In my work I am looking for direction, a sense of place, and enigmatic focus.
I have chosen to work in encaustic medium for it’s translucent and opaque pigment to create an abstract field, an unknown terrain. Time and space are visualized and veiled through layering, scraping, and fusing of wax and pigment.
Conceptually, I am interested in exploring the interplay of imposing perimeters and embrace infinity through this work.
My vision is a subtle field where hints of directions for living may exist. The numeric-alpha symbols are a subjective coding and represent intervals in my life. The grid advances the paintings focus and creates a visual directive about the search for location.
We move around, navigate and track our own life. These paintings are that journey visualized.
