Curator’s Comments:

This a beautiful piece just coming to my attention now, even though it was posted some years back.   Like the other amalgamations of fruits and flowers, Amarylismaple is constructed of sensual veils of tinted color.  The delicate shifts between pink and green are fluid, and offer complementary contrast.  But this piece seems different in that the more graphic pattern of the leaves on the right side display a drastic variance in object scale. The muting of the pattern as it runs behind the layer of blown up petals keeps continuity and visual interest in the composition.  While the piece designated Yellow-Pear-Rose doesn’t contain much deviation in texture or proportion within the space, the sharpness of the opaquer forms breaks up the analogous passages.  For me the subjects are no longer recognizable, and give way to a luxurious mutability of form.
