Curator’s Comments:
The smooth pastel shapes in Enchanted Garden are soothing in their organic conglomeration. Puzzle like in the manner in which the various shapes interlock and move throughout the space, the living landscape writhes with life and contained energy. My eyes ultimately rest on the fish out of water- suspended in the left center of the composition, above his waiting pool below. But the separation doesn’t cause stress, as he appears to live within the tightly linked fauna and flora surrounding him. Several human figures or floating features create smaller areas of emphasis. I see the female silhouetted shapes as maternal, or nurturing entities, while some of the disembodied eyes could represent an omnipotent, and perhaps less benevolent force.
