Fragmento de una ánfora griega.
El griego clásico no entendia la competición como en la actualidad, se alzaba la mirada a los héroes de la época arcaica y aspiraba a imitarles. En realidad, sobresalir entre los demás compromete a una acción comunitaria, Aristóteles lo definió como “ser comunitario” (zoon politikon); la palabra griega “agon” aplicada a los héroes homéricos, quiere decir ser el mejor (aristeuein), no ser el primero (proteuein).
