Curator’s Comments:
I am always happy to see your new work on the site- this thickly impastoed oil painting is one of the more mysterious subjects I’ve seen in your figural abstractions. The darker color palette contributes to the somber mood. The landscape and the figure contained within seem to be constructed out of the same material- the blue-gray tone of the solitary human is stony and cool. The choppy red background seems as though a crimson wave is moving forward in space in a high chroma wave of color. But the figure is unmoved by the unnatural phenomena- which could denote terror or majesty. Grass green brush marks at his feet tease us into a familiar patch of earth. Whatever the context for this new untitled painting, the space draws me in, and leaves me with a slightly unsettled feeling. There is much to enjoy in the lush movement of paint. I wonder what lies beneath.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
