BlossoMania, (Plum tree) 12H x 16W inches Oil Pastels on 80 lb acid free, using Oil Blending and Glazing Medium.

Petals are falling, the sky is blue

They cover everything, old and new

If I sit here too long, I'll be covered too!

Expressive marks are characteristic of most of my work, especially so in oil pastels, when removing material with a pottery tool... it's a bit like carving.
I've been studying these flowers clumped along the branches for a couple of weeks now, pondering how I'd go about drawing or painting them. The petals swirled in the wind the other day, so when beginning work, swirls it was.
Initially the clumps were going to be balls, and more abstract, but the freshness that occurred during the first stage of work was appealing, so I didn't re-work things further as I might normally do.
