This painting is a black light painting and natural light also can been seen through the painting to illuminate the Amoeba's, almost stain glass like.  This also has a frame that allows it to be hung in a window and also doesn't take away from the piece.  It is as the painting is hanging by itself.  Thank you Kristen for your review on this piece.  More to the series later on this month.

Color Stealing Amoeba strikes a strong balance between inexorable rainbow hues and quiet black neutral space.  The elongated vertical format particularly helps move the eye up through the picture plane, as many of the biomorphic “amoeba” shapes carry similar amounts of visual weight.  I like viewing the grouping as taxonomy of sorts; cataloging curious full-colored entities that could be plant, animal or mineral.  I also appreciate that some are connected, or in the state of separation, which formally serves to vary the composition while alluding to organic transformation and growth. The shapes could be said to be pretty, as in an economic floral bouquet. But while they each appear to contain a central nucleus reaffirming their biologic primacy, the viewer can also be left eerily to feel as they were also being observed dozens of watchful eyes.
