thank you for the comments.  very kind.  

i think that i am looking for his 'look' to wake up something in each of us.  different for each person, but

hopefully more wake up call/back to reality sort of thing.

The opposed saturated crimson and cerulean colors really attracted me to this piece.  The stylization of the portrait and decorative designs in the headpiece are also nicely balanced by the skin-like texture of the metallic leaf in the surrounding space.  While I noticed a similar treatment of materials and subjects in some of your other work, the use of these media seems most effective in Blue Geronimo, since the subject takes on mythical significance.  The delicate and random imperfections of the silver leaf run counter to the superbly controlled shadowing on the figure’s garments.  But rather than a contemplative spiritual encounter, the assertive positioning and dramatic use of media command a more visceral response.  I’m wondering if you’re hoping to communicate an idea or awareness of this legendary persona, or if the viewers are just to bask in the sheer visual pleasure of the form.
