The model was beautifully positioned. The opening between the hands suggested a detailed flower study and the camellia flower became the support for the rest of the design

Camellia, A Flame in My Heart, came up randomly on the site today, and I find myself captivated by the alternating rhythms of voluptuous flesh and geometric pattern. I see the model as gorgeously rendered in a hyper-realistic style faintly crossing into fantasy due to the higher chroma greens and blues merging into pink shadows. The hard contour lines accentuate the curves of her form, which are again echoed in the pink petals of the flower. However, the languid fluidity of the subject is juxtaposed with the repetitive circles and multiple bisecting planes of flat color. While the graphic quality of the lines formally diverges from the treatment of the body, the circles are an interesting bridge between the design and the organic circular shape of the camellia. It is a wonderful painting.
