This painting was completed over the course of five days. It definitely builds on the ideas explored in my previous butterfly painting. The color work from the more realistic paintings of earlier in 2011 shows itself as well. This work takes the brightness of color I was striving for to an almost fauvist level. The influence of Henri Matisse is certainly evident.
