Curator’s Comments:

Viewed within the totality of your Zen like hatched drawings, this floral Paintbrush piece embraces an unusual delicacy of form.   Whereas the strength and beauty of the pieces with bold circular or cross shapes lies in their simple directionality and economy of communication, this work seems to be about specificity of a natural subject.  The wispy brush marks emanating off of the flowers alludes to a fleeting existence, or the act of pollination; the attempt to continue a short existence.   I also like the amount of negative space in the top section, which supports a softer dispersal of errant marks.  The plant is isolated to a degree, but grounded, with another faint plant suggested off to the side.  To the viewer this enhances the idea of growth, and a living entity, rather than a disembodied or cut flower.
