Of course this piece fits right in with your figurative Pop sensibility, but I also am attracted to the more austere or economic use of textured space and solid color blocks.  The repeated pattern of the black umbrellas beautifully complements the black stripes in Barbie’s swimsuit.  Likewise, the erratic burst of yellow pigment to the side of her canary blonde hair seems both gesturally and yet skillfully orchestrated as it echoes other formal compositional elements.  The intentionality of the design features is playful and smart.  I find myself wondering about the text which appears to stream down as straight lines of rain; scale isn’t indicated, but the legible words may play a larger role in the physical piece than textural variations.  Classic is an apt title.
