Hi Julie, thanks a lot for the feedback. I agree with you that trust in self, and however a creative process unfolds, are so fundamental, short- and long-term. I mean, what artist doesn't have at least ten works in various stages of finishing, not to mention ideas still in conceptional phases that we may never have time realize?! Those annoying, conflicting, linear kind of expectations are always present, but materializing visions is always unpredictable, even undefinable without first 'switching brains' completely from right to left or vise-verse, often only capable after the work is applied, which is never the same in any given project.

On a personal note, reestablishing a daily work routine destabilized by moving across the country, with gaps of time not producing something substantial on a regular basis, it sometimes feels as if all the associated distractions have been detrimental to my career. Commitments to a blog, other websites, plus a significant solo exhibition were put on hold... such a crazy situation trying to revive everything. This is Art though, I have to remember - so unlike any other occupation. This past couple of years, with tangible results few and far between, I've absorbed so many experiences that will absolutely contribute to future work. Observation counts, big-time. Effort reaps its own rewards too, doesn't it, with confidence valuable most of all - I previously under-appreciated that factor, maybe. So by setting straight to work on something, and interacting with fellow artists like you, I'm reminded how breaks seemingly void of activity, are very much a part of what comes next...

i love this work and the story of your collection and especially the waiting.  i really believe that sometimes we have to wait for more life lived before the knowledge is there to complete a work.  At times i've had to trust that and just wait. what a process!
